WILDWOOD (NJ)
[Wildwood] The 20th Annual Wildwoods International Kite Festival, the East Coast Stunt Kite Championships, the World Indoor Kite Competition
Approximately 200-300 kitefliers attend the festival and participate in three days of workshops, competitions and fun flying. The festivals starts on Friday afternoon with a local school program, followed by a media fly, a barbecue and registration and ends with our annual Nite Kite Fly. Saturday is filled with sport kite competitions, fighter kite competitions, a festival field filled by local kite clubs and featured guest fliers. Inside the convention center, workshops and exhibitions of kites and kite related materials are open to the public. On Saturday night there is a Silent and Loud Auction.
Sunday is a repeat of Saturday with lots more high flying fun. On Sunday night there is an Awards Banquet and the theme this year is Mardi Gras East! So, bring some beads and a mask and join in with the cajun celebration.
On Monday, the World Indoor Kite Competition takes place in the Wildwoods Convention Center from 10am to 4pm.
We have rokkaku battles, attempt a world record for giant kites (bring yours) and numerous workshops for kite enthusiasts as well as the public.
 
[Livonia] The 4 Seasons Kite Club flies every Wednesday after work at Schoolcraft College from roughly 5:30 until weather, darkness, or hunger overtake us. The public is welcome to watch, chat, fly, enjoy, and join the club. We fly stunt kites, single line kites, fighter kites, and sometimes a buggy.
 
[Topeka, Kansas] A three day event starting Friday 5pm with night fly. Competition on Saturday, Sunday if needed. Buggy races, fighter kite, demo’s, kite store, concession, candy drops, water balloon drop. Camping on site with no hookups. indoor fly Saturday with a live auction with proceeds going to our charity, American Diabetes Association.
       
[Ocean Shores] Single line exhibts, Ray Bethell flying, sport kite competition including 2 internationally known sport kite teams, Team Cutting Edge and 6th Sense.
       
[Bodega Bay] Come join us for an end of the week, beginning of the weekend kite fly. Bring your own kites or come out and demo ours. We have a large selection of kites for you to try, just ask and we will see what we can pull out of the bag for you

[Varennes] Vent D’Ékinox presents FreeFly 2005 June 4-5 ,2005.

This event kicks off the 2005 summer season. Normand Girard (AKA member) and owner of Vent D'Ekinox (VDE) is happy to sponsor the FreeFly 2005 event, Normand Girard will be the official AKA Chairperson for this event, the FQCV (AKA affiliated club Federation Quebecoise du Cerf-Volant) will help out by supplying AKA members to provide the security requirements of the AKA for obtaining the AKA Sanctioned status and insurance required by the City of Varennes, Quebec, Canada.

By having a festival at the beginning of the summer, new fliers will have the opportunity to meet up with the experienced ones, thus creating an evironment where the experienced fliers can pass on their knowledge. Its also a good time to discuss the upcoming events and make arrangements to attend them.

The majority of one line fliers in Quebec build their own kites. So this festival is also a venue for exchanging information on all facets of kite design and construction and stimulates creativity.

The site which is approximately 2000' long and 500' wide and will be divided into 2 fields with field orientation depending on wind direction.

Field 1 is reserved for Vent D'Ekinox for their kite demo tryouts and for the stunt kites.

Field 2 will be used mainly for free flying single line kites.

[Mooresville] Time: 4pm until dark. The annual Relay for Life event that raises funds and awareness for cancer and cancer research has asked kite flyers to put on a little demo to help participants pass the time. The demo can consist of ballet routines and/or examples of different kite types.
[Muncie] Times: Sat. 9AM - 5PM; Sun. 10AM - 3PM. This will be a fun fly in the company of some thrilling model aircraft flyers! Join us for some fun kite flying and then marvel at the unique and awesome model aircraft that will be flying most of the time.
         
[Albuquerque] This is our third annual event and again marks the beginning of the annual !Traditions! Wind Festival, a three month display of wind sculptures from artists around the world. The !Traditions! complex is located mid way between Albuquerque and Santa Fe New Mexico. This historic area is home to a number of Native American Pueblos and is rich in both history and beauty. The area is also home to some of the country’s best known Native American artists. This year’s event will feature an historic display of kites from Germany placed by The Drachen Foundation. This is a don't miss festival with some of the bluest skys you're ever likely to see.
         
[Glen Ellyn] The GLEN ELLYN PARK DISTRICT Family Fun Kite Fly will include the following activities: Demonstrations and stunts by “Chicago Kite”, “Sparling Kite Entertainment”, and “Chromatic Kites”. Kites of all sizes, as large as 90 feet, will be soaring through the sky for all to see. Families will have the opportunity to participate in learn-to-fly lessons, fun family flying, kite-making workshops, single line flying, and a night fly along with a chance to look at the stars, featuring the “Star Gazers”! But wait there is more... “Universal Hover Craft” will be showcasing with live demonstrations and stunts, children and parents will also have the opportunity to try remote control hover crafts on site. Come and enjoy free musical entertainment, raffles, and a kite flyin’ good time! Concessions will be sold at Holes & Knolls Miniature Golf Course.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own kites for this fun, leisurely kite fly sponsored by CHICAGO KITE.

[Junction] The Junction Kite Retreat is a 3-day gathering over Memorial Day Weekend at the Texas Tech Ext. Campus in Junction, TX. This is an annual event designed to promote kite making, and commraderie amongst fliers from all over the world.
       
[Bangor] Bangor’s first annual KiteFest, produced by Maine Discovery Museum, will take place at the Bangor Waterfront on the Penobscot River. In addition to playing host to several Northeast kiting clubs, the festival will offer professional kiting areas where the pros can show off their incomprarable skills. There will also be a novice flying area, lessons from the pros for beginners, kite history and kite building workshops, musical entertainment and the grand opening of a spectacular traveling kite exhibit from the Drachen Foundation at Maine Discovery Museum, a short walk from the flying field.
 
Skydance (ND)
[Garrison] Skydance is a three day festival held on the shore of Lake Sakakawea. This is a fun fly with kid’s kitemaking, dual and quad line demos, kite buggy rides, free drawings, raffle, and one-of-a-kind art kites. Come fly where Lewis and Clark floated by.

The City of Hamilton Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a KITE FLYING DAY on Saturday, June 4, 2005, at 11:00 am in which kite enthusiasts between the ages of 5 -12 can come to the Wilson Pool parking lot located at 1025 Cleveland Avenue and fly your kites. There will be exciting prizes given for the most original kite, the biggest and smallest kite, and even a contest to see whose kite can fly the highest. The event is free and open to the public. There will be refreshments served. The only requirement is that you need to bring your own kite and string. The kites can be store bought or you can get creative and make it yourself. We will have staff on hand to assist you in your high flying adventure. So, if you are in to competing or just having fun, bring your family and friends and your kite for this one of a kind special event.

[Boston] The Boston Area Sport Kite Championships and Kite Festival 2005 will be held at Boston’s Millennium Park. This park is 220 feet above sea level with good winds, unobstructed views in all directions, easy access and ample parking.

[Dallas] LifeNets Up and Away Day will feature and highlight David Gomberg flying the "Largest Kite in the World" a 9,000 square foot American Flag. Free admission and open to the public! 10-4 pm Concessions and children’s activities at a minimal charge with all proceeds going to benefit needy children. The day will provide fun and excitement for many many underprivleged children and beautifully symbolize taking flight and rising above, (in their case) life’s extraordinary challenges. We are recruiting volunteers to sponsor a child with a kite to fly at the event. We have 3 areas to fly over. One for the BIG KITE, one for the professionals and one for the fun fly. We extend an open invitation to all kiters to join us. For LifeNet as an organization, this event will provide public awareness, media exposure, a significant opportunity for fund raising and further the accomplishments of our children’s program. LifeNet wants to make this event a unique / signature event in Dallas.
In case of rain the event will be held on the 12th.

[Rockport] This is the second year of this event; it’s main purpose is for the families of Downs kids to get a day just to enjoy the beach, sky, winds, kites, kayaks, food and fun etc. on the water. We are getting an area roped off on the beach just for kite demo flys and for our "kids" to experience the joys of kite flying for themselves. We made the 20/20/20 paper kites available to them and look forward to it again this year. Several "pro" kite team members are coming to do demo flights; just entertain, and interact with these challenged children and their parents / siblings.

[Lincoln City] On June 21, 2005 the top fifteen sport kite teams in the world will engage in a three-day clash to see who is the best of the best, and return home with the title of World Champion. This will be a must-see event!

The event will be held on the grounds of the Chinook Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City, Oregon. Competition will be held on June 21-23, with June 24 held as a reserve day in case of inclement conditions on one of the scheduled competition days

The WSKC event will be held on a bluff overlooking the beach... the beach will hold a spectacular display of show kites. Not a sport kiter? Come and be part of the extravaganza on the beach! The WSKC will be immediately followed by the annual Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival!
[Lincoln City] Come to the perfect place to fly your kite, "Latitude 45" in Lincoln City, Oregon. Among the activities include dual line demonstrations, sport kite teams, Rokkaku battles, and colorful single line kites of all sizes.

Windscape (SASK)
[Swift Current] Windscape is a second time non-competitive festival (first held in 1998)to be held on a large field on the edge of this city of 16,000. The field is 800' by 1200 sq ft approximately. The festival will feature invited guests from Canada and the U.S. a kite workshop, food and beer tent, a kite sales booth and an evening Blues Festival(Long Days Night Blues Fest)on site. The festival is free and open to all flyers.
         
[Richmond] CVSKC is an AKA regional sport kite competition, placed to temporarily replace the Old Dominion Sport Kite Championships. CVSKC is a great opportunity for Novice competitors to compete in a small "no pressure" environment, and for Experienced and Masters class fliers to compete for AKA points and qualify for the 2005 OC Nationals!

[Olympic Valley] Squaw Valley USA is proud to host its 4th Annual High Altitude Kite and Music Festival. The festival is located at 8,200' at the top of High Camp. This makes for a unique flying and festival experience, with live music and breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountain vistas.

[Edmond] This is a family fun fly with demonstrations, kite making for the kids, candy drops and a silent kite auction. Saturday night includes a night fly after dark. All kiters are welcome.
         
[Martinez] This is an AKA sanctioned competition. Dual-line, Multi-line, Fighters, Hot Tricks Shoot Out and Kitemaking will be included. AKA and BASKL poits will be awarded. Pilots meeting at 10am.
[Milwaukee] Fireworks Kite Festival July 3, 2005. KSWI in Conjuction with Gift of Wings, US Bank and Clear Channel Communications will sponsor our annual Fireworks Kite Festival. Featuring the Giant Kites of Yves LaForest. This is a fun fly and all are welcome to participate. Our goal is to fill the sky with as many kites as possible. Times from 11:00 am until 6:30 PM, then 7:30 PM until the fireworks start at 9:25 pm. We have set aside a huge area of Veterans Park just for kitefliers. So fly a kite and get the best seats in the house for the greatest firworks show on Earth. Well...in my opinion, of course. Now understand that traffic and parking are a real mess for this event, so come early and don't plan on leaving until after the fireworks are finished at 10:15pm. In other words, plan your whole day in the park. It’s a blast.
