[Nags Head] The Fly Into Spring is a celebration of the season. This is a fun fly. We will have games for kite fliers and spectators. There will be mass ascension, a learn to fly area, and lots of games for the kids. Premier will help us out with great prizes. Come out for two days of great fun. Hours 10-4 pm. Saturday nights there will be a gathering at Bad Barracudas (6 pm on)....come join in the fun.

[SAN MARCOS] THE 8TH ANNUAL BLUEBONNET KITEFEST IS ONE OF THE LARGER FREE EVENTS HELD IN SAN MARCOS. WE HAVE MANY EXCITING ACTIVITIES PLANNED WHICH INCLUDE A 5K RUN, AKA KITE FLYING CONTESTS, KITE ENTERTAINMENT AND EXHIBITION FLYING. [Frisco, NC] The aim of this weekend is to bring together all kitesurfers for a fun weekend free from competition and strict format. Hatteras Island, NC offers great Kite Surfing locations from multiple wind directions. The shallow waters make it safer to do a long ranger ride. This event will be held in conjunction with the Wind Fest Celebration at Frisco Woods Campgrounds. We will be planning to kite surf from Frisco to Kite Point by Canadian Hole or depending on the wind we will ride to the tip of Hatteras. Take this opportunity to meet fellow kitesurfers and sail in new locations. Anyone is welcome to come along and experts from Kitty Hawk Kites will be on hand to help you in any way. [Chesterton] Annual kids-n-kites workshop at the nature center by local kite flyers. Kids will hear about kite flying through out history, use of kites on the great lakes, kite safety. They will make a "sled" kite to take with them. A fun fly will be held on the beach of Lake Michigan following the workshop. There will be other kite flyers invited to come out and fly what they got to paint the sky. Entry fee into the park, NO FEE for the workshop. [Charlton] "Flying for A Cure" KITE FEST is part of the "Relay for Life". We are flying for a cure of cancer. Our small event is on three football, baseball & soccor fields but up on a hill that over looks 10 towns. We will have face painting, and a bake sale, also kite demo’s. [Huntington Beach] The Free To Breathe Kite Festival is a one-day event featuring professional kite-flying demos and lessons, kite building, a candy drop and a poster/poetry contest. There also will be information on what every individual can do to clean the air and an opportunity to dedicate and fly a kite in memorial of a loved one lost or living with lung disease.

[capitola] this is a family event on the beach in capitola,stunt kite demonstrations, but not competitive, lots of fun and prizes for all. make your own kite, come and have fun!

[Seal Beach] An annual event directed toward teacing children the joy of kites. Games, puppet show, kite lessons, free kites, kite making, sand castle building classes. Free event lots of fun bring a kite and fly with us. We could use some big attention getter kites. Please call if you can help.

[Grand Forks] This is our 4th annual Community Kite Festival. We have stunt kites available for people to try and we teach them how to fly. We also have kite demonstration and a radio-controlled candy drop from a kite for the kids. It’s a fun day for families. We encourage them to have a picnic and fill the sky with beautiful kites. We have a big, beautiful, flying field attached to a play-ground with facilities.

[Valparaiso] 4th Annual Col. Muray Memorial Kite Festival. This is a low impact kite festival that keeps growing in its popularity each year. It is a fun fly, with many activities for children and families, and those who just want to come out and fly for fun. We encourage flyers to lend a hand with those just learning. There is a kids-n-kites area. Our goal this year is to get kites into those in our communiites and elsewhere that may be differently challenged, seniors, and of course to get those who may get hooked on flying. Col. Murray was one of the first pioneers in the midwest to put some practical applications to ariel kite photgraphy in the late 1890’s. He moved to NW Indiana and settled Sunset Hill Farm to operate a diary business, which was later given to Porter County as a park.
