This will be a fun fly event that features invited kitefliers, a kitemaking/design competition, kite art display, sport kite demonstrations, children’s kite workshops. There will be food and craft booths. The 20 plus acre flying field is located on the west bank of the mighty Mississippi at Baton Rouge. [Newport] Kitemania is a retreat for Northeast Kite Fliers. Clinics will run all weekend in Kitemaking, Kite flying, Fighter Kite and Indoor Flying. There will be an Open Fun Fly at Eastons Beach all weekend.
         
[Shelton] Planned as part of United Valley Libraries One Book One Valley celebration featuring "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini activities include A.M. kite making workshops for children, families and individuals under the direction and supervision of members of ConnectiKITERS Kite Club. A presentation on the history of fighter kites and kite safety with a demonstration of fighter kite flying by Glenn Davison of MA follows. The day’s activities draw to a close with a community kite fly. The public is invited to bring and fly F3 fighter kites, a model designed by fighter kite hobbyist Bruce Lambert, crafted during a March 2005 UVL sponsored workshop, sled kites crafted during morning kite making workshops or any other kite of choice.

[Tulsa] Because our second grade class of gifted students is studying Earth and Sky, we have decided to celebrate both with a Kite Day. Mr. Richard Dermer and his wife Marti will be offering us a chance to create our own "sled" kites as well as teaching us about kite history, safety, and mordren kites. We will then be taking our newly assemblied kites to the "U" at the University of Tulsa and letting them fly! [Deerfield] Donna Schenk (aka Mrs. Kite Lady) will use the Beaufort scale to determine wind speed and direction. Mrs. Frame’s 7th grade sciece class will use an anamometer to determine how close she comes--to date she has missed only once! Students will then fly kites wind and weather permitting.
GIKCF (KY)
[Georgetown] The GIKCF, now in it’s fifth year, is a family oriented festival featuring two days of relaxed fun flys, demos, free kitemaking activities for children, and numerous prizes and giveaways. Our sister city in Japan sends a contingent from the Tahara Kite Preservation Society that always delights the crowd with their battle kite demo and opportunity to build your own traditional Japanese kite. [Bourbonnais] This will be the 5th Annual Perry Farm Kite Festival. It is a two day event that features professional Kite Flier demonstrations, competitions, large inflatables and single liners. Kite workshops for children are availabel as well. We also have a public flying field with it’s very own kite hospital. Kite Harbor provides a place to buy kites. We even have a concession wagon and a bounce house for the children. This is a great family event that has grown to be one of the biggest in Illinois. We take pride in the groth of this event and the great realtionship we have built with the family of kitefliers and we look forward to seeing everyone again this year!

[Edwardsville] from 9:00-12:00 The Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Parks & Recreation Association will be having a statewide kiting event called “Flying 4 Kids.” The goal of the event is to raise awareness about a youth license plate, featuring kites. Each plate sale and renewal places $25 in a fund for youth after-school programming through the park and recreation agencies throughout the state. We will join the festivities Edwardsville’s 42+ acre, Joe Glick Park. There will be refreshments, raffles, kite building and a kite hospital. They will also be roping out an area for our sport kite fliers to demo in. So bring out the whole family and let’s show them what modern kiting is all about.
 
         
[Zionsville] Time: 10AM. The Earth Explorers Toy store is sponsoring this workshop. It will begin with a short talk on kites and its history followed by a sled kite workshop. Participants will meet at the store and, if attendance calls for a larger venue, will walk a block to the local Lions Club.
 
         
[East Flat Rock] The 8th annual Mighty Kite Flight is a fun fly with attendees from all over the southeast. Enjoy the beautiful mountains of North Carolina in a whole new way! Bring a lunch and plan to stay the whole day...kite flying can be addictive!
 
         
[Greenville] Free event will feature a children’s kite making workshop, and Just Add Wind Kite store will be available for all of your kiting needs.
 
         
[Parkman] "Come Fly With Us" Kite Festival is an annual event sponsored by the Parkman Chamber of Commerce, presented by The American Kiting Assoc. For young & old. Enjoy a fun filled day in the country getting back to the basics. Learn to fly, kite making classes, demonstrations, spring races, DJ, face painting, food. [Livonia] The 4 Seasons Kite Club flies every Wednesday after work at Schoolcraft College from roughly 5:30 until weather, darkness, or hunger overtake us. The public is welcome to watch, chat, fly, enjoy, and join the club. We fly stunt kites, single line kites, fighter kites, and sometimes a buggy.

at Boston’s Poe John Paul II Park this Saturday and Sunday.

[Ocean City] The Maryland International Kite Expo is a kite spectacular. It features the Mid Atlantic Stunt Kite Championships (MASKC), the Maryland Kitemakers competition, and lots of kites exhibited by guests and area kite clubs. Kite activities for the public by manufacuturers are included in the fun and educational aspects of the festival. There is a Saturday night awards banquet and auction.
         
[Oregon] This is our yearly park clean up and camp out. Come out and help take care of the park that takes care of us.

P.S. There will be some flying too!
         
[Orange] Now in its 8th year, the festival offers a great time for kite flyers of all ages and abilities. Come out and join Wings Over Washington (WOW) and Sky Jewels Kites. We'll be performing demonstrations, holding kids kitemaking classes (with prizes), giving lessons Running the Bols! We'll also be putting up as much "sky candy" (Giant Lobsters, FlowForms, etc). as we can. Sky Jewels Kites will be there too, with a great selection of the latest in sport kites and single line kites, as well as boomerangs and lighted frisbees, flags and garden spinners.

The festival runs from 11am to 6pm on Saturday, and from noon until 5pm on Sunday.
